Process
I help people build new products and use their data to better understand their business, acquire funding, and make decisions.
You might want to add me to a team with a project already underway (ex. A Biologist among Devs). If not, this is what a typical path forward would look like for an indie project with me:
-
1. Project Worksheet
If you submit an inquiry for an independent project, I’ll reply with a Project Worksheet: What would you like to work on together? Do you anticipate this will be a short or long-term project? What’s your budget? How specific or exploratory is your quest? If you’d like me to analyze data for you, do you know its quality? What would successful delivery look like?
-
2. Initial Meeting
After I review your Project Worksheet, we’ll meet to clarify the goals, define delivery, and refine the worksheet. We’ll discuss the budget and timeline for all aspects of the project, including exploratory work.
-
3. Contract
After we finalize the Project Worksheet, we’ll execute a written contract detailing scope, fees, confidentiality, and intellectual-property ownership.
-
4. Setup
This may include acquiring credentials and permission to access your data, retrieving data, and/or a site-visit.
If I’m analyzing data for you, this will include a rigorous evaluation of your data’s quality. -
5. Execution
This is the fun part: research, analysis, and building. We’ll meet at regular intervals to discuss progress. I’ll send updates along the way as milestones are achieved.
-
6. Delivery
This is often publication-quality visuals, explanatory text, and a GitHub repository of code that is or that reveals the thing you want.
